![]() ![]() The sound isolation quality of the rooms could be better as you can hear the people walk along the outside walkway past your room. Starting about 0800 there is the on again/off again back up beeping associated with construction equipment. There is construction among the houses along the street behind the hotel (Stratford Court). Barbara on the front desk and Benito especially. We did not utilize the pool or dining facilities All staff encountered was friendly and helpful. From the room we had a nice ocean view, and it was only a short walk down 6th street to access the bluffs and the Sea Cliff Coastal Trail. All room equipment worked well and had no issues. The bathroom vanity had sufficient room for toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, hairbrush, and the provided amenities. The water heated quickly and had great pressure. The large shower, no tub, had a rain head and a hand wand. The only thing was the room was not equipped with an in room safe. There were plenty of electrical outlets and there were also USB plugs next to the bed, which is convenient. This room was very large, with coffee maker, working refrigerator, an ante type room which had a large closet, and a large bathroom. Arrived about 1330 and checked in and were warmly greeted and assigned room 209. Check in time states 1600, but I received an email at 0830 saying my room was ready. Our room was in the main building and not the annex. ![]() It was on the 2nd floor and only abutted one other room, so it was a relatively quiet stay. I reserved a 2 Queen Standard and upon arrival found I had been upgraded to a 2 Queen Standard Ocean View. It has a more of a 60's coastal motel feel, like a renovated low-end property, however it has been well cared for and made for an enjoyable stay. This is not what you think of when you think hotel. I was at the point of using or losing a free IHG anniversary night and decided to have a close-by staycation in Del Mar. There are good restaurants nearby as is a Von's grocery store. This hotel is less than half an hour from both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Safari Park, so it’s a perfect location to stay if you plan to visit both parks. Walking out from the hotel grounds just two blocks away is an access point for Sea Cliff Coastal Trail, a bluff top walking path. The hotel has a guest laundry with coin operated washers and dryers, which is very useful for longer stays. There is also a separate console containing a small cube refrigerator and a Keurig coffee maker on a pull out tray. The bathroom sink console had enough counter space and had additional space down below it to stash more things. There is plenty of space to put your stuff away and plenty of charging outlets, both on the night table and in a shelf within the large dresser. The room itself is extremely well designed. Nearby was a convenient large trash can so clean up from our picnics was easy. We got takeout and ate here several nights. In front of our room was a courtyard patio with picnic tables. There is a ceiling fan, and the large, west facing windows keep the room bright and cheerful during the day. It was very quiet even though we kept the windows open. Lovely well managed property! We stayed in the North Building, in room 507, a large double room with a shared balcony and a faraway peek at the ocean.
